Gigaset AG sets course for 2019
21. December 2018 Published by Raphael DoerrIn the context of the latest developments, Gigaset AG is laying the foundation for a powerful start to 2019. Mr. Thomas Schuchardt, currently SVP Controlling Gigaset, will take over as Finance Director and hence become head of business administration at Gigaset Communications GmbH effective January 1, 2019. He succeeds Stephan Mathys, who resigned as CFO of Gigaset AG on December 13, 2018, for personal reasons.
“In a production company with such a large product range as Gigaset and so many new projects planned for 2019, economic success also stands and falls by controlling – whether at the project or company level,” says Chief Executive Officer Klaus Weßing. “We are in the process of preparing for the launch of a raft of new products for 2019 and have deliberately decided to delegate responsibility for finance to an expert from the operational level until further notice. Over the last two years, Thomas Schuchardt has proven that he can manage our core business in a far-sighted and cost-conscious manner and at the same time support the Executive Board in developing the new product areas.”
Thomas Schuchardt has been Senior Vice President Controlling at Gigaset since January 1, 2017. At the production company Gigaset Communications GmbH, he has accompanied the successful launch of numerous new products in the Phones, Smartphones, Smart Home and Professional segments. The 45-year-old has extensive financial experience. Before joining Gigaset, he held leading positions in the areas of finance and controlling at various major companies such as E.ON, Hochtief and Saint-Gobain and will contribute that experience to his new role.
Outlook for 2018 confirmed
Gigaset AG also reaffirms its outlook for 2018, which it adjusted on November 26, 2018, in particular its unchanged guidance for EBITDA, which is still expected to be between €20 and €28 million.
“The fourth quarter is going well at the moment and Christmas trade is promising so far. Our sales year extends up to December 31, 2018 – and we will use every day we have,” says Klaus Weßing. “I am especially pleased that it looks like our three strategic segments Smartphones, Smart Home and Professional will grow in compared to 2018.”
Product planning for 2019 finalized
Gigaset has increasingly positioned itself in the new segments above and beyond phones in 2018. Products are becoming more and more digital. Numerous innovations are planned for 2019 – from the home hub to intelligent hands-free solutions to greater activities in the area of digital services.
Gigaset AG will present its figures for fiscal 2018 on April 30, 2019 at the Annual Press Conference.
