The next generation of wireless plugs from Gigaset make your home more convenient, more secure and more economical. Makes sockets smart: the new Gigaset Plug 2.0

Germany is the country of the connected home: there are only a few other countries where the smart home is as widespread[1]. The most frequent investment is made in smart plugs. The small devices can be used to control other non-connected devices – from the standard lamp to the coffee machine – by app or voice command. Gigaset has now added an energy metering function to its new generation of wireless plugs, turning the Gigaset Plug 2.0, in tandem with the Gigaset Smart Home system, into a real all-round talent: The compact adapter in classic white displays the energy consumption of the connected device on the free Gigaset Smart Home app. “That means power guzzlers in the home are soon identified and can either be replaced or used more carefully,” says Lukas Brink, Product Manager at Gigaset. “Our goal in developing the plug was to provide even greater benefit for our customers.” The consumption meter enables other convenient functions

The smart switch to put in your pocket

The smart Gigaset Plug 2.0 can be used to switch connected devices on and off – no matter where you happen to be. Alongside manual switching, the Gigaset Smart Home app can be used to also define routines: For example, the outdoor lighting will be activated at sunset, or the light will go on when the residents are within range of the motion sensor in the Gigaset Smart Home system. The Gigaset Plug 2.0 will even switch on the TV when there’s no-one home, if desired, and can therefore help deter potential burglars – for example, during a weekend away or a business trip.

About the Gigaset Smart Home system

The Gigaset Smart Home system uses motion detectors, alarm sirens, smoke detectors, water sensors and cameras for indoors and outdoors to make your home more secure and convenient. Users can see via the Gigaset Smart Home app whether all the doors and windows fitted with sensors are closed properly – if there’s an irregularity, like an attempted break-in, smoke has been detected, or there’s a water leak, the alarm will go off. All incidents are easy to track in the Gigaset Smart Home app. That way, the Gigaset Smart Home system offers protection against burglary and damage by the elements, and provides additional living comfort, for instance, through convenient heating and lighting control in combination with Amazon Alexa, Google Home or Philips Hue. The system is modular and can be adapted to suit any living situation.

Measuring 60 x 60 x 85 mm, the Gigaset Plug 2.0 can be used in any standard socket. It requires an installed Gigaset Smart Home Base and the free Gigaset Smart Home app.
