The new flagship of Gigaset’s DECT telephone portfolio – the SL450 – was unveiled for the first time at the end of 2015. With high-quality materials such as the aluminum housing, outstanding HDSP acoustics and an extra-large 2.4 inch TFT color display, this device was the pinnacle of telephone technology. While these features have been retained, the new Black Edition of the router handset has been given a completely fresh look for an even stronger positioning in the high-end segment.

Black Edition with Diamond Cut

“The models in our SL series are a combination of the best-possible features”, states Michael Zenz, Head of Product Management Voice Products. “And this is also true of our Gigaset SL450HX. The new Black Edition illustrates our intention to put an even greater emphasis on design going forward in order to attract new groups of prospective users.”

Unlike the previous version of the Gigaset SL450HX – finished in a discreet silver color – the Black Edition celebrates contrasts. The large TFT display is set in a black front, where the single visually divergent characteristic is the central 4-way navigation key in shiny silver. The sleek black aluminum housing is broken up by the Diamond Cut, a dividing line with a sharply contrasting look and feel to the pervading device color. For charging purposes, the handset is placed in a polished metal cradle.

Its outstanding looks make the Gigaset SL450HX an eye-catcher in any private or professional environment, boasting an exterior that wonderfully underlines the device’s technical capabilities.

High-end audio quality

Great looks aren’t quite everything, of course. The superlative full-duplex standard guarantees unequivocal sound quality in hands-free mode. Used as an IP handset directly connected to the router, the Gigaset SL450HX delivers superb audio quality (HD Voice). With a wider bandwidth than used for standard calls, more sound details are transmitted than ever before, minimizing the background noise that may occur with conventional Internet telephony, for example.

Universal handset for routers with DECT

Like all Gigaset’s HX models, the SL450HX doesn’t just work with Gigaset’s own base units. It can also operate seamlessly with routers using the conventional DECT protocol (such as the FRITZ!Box) and those complying with the CAT-iq standard (such as Telekom’s latest Speedport models).

Key benefits for the user in this context are access to the internal telephone directories of the routers, the lists of incoming, outgoing and missed calls and operation of the routers’ internal answering machine. All this makes the SL450HX a premium alternative to the system handsets from router vendors.

Radiation-free thanks to ECO DECT

All models in the Gigaset SL450 series come with environmentally-friendly ECO DECT technology, which Gigaset has played a major part in shaping and refining over the years. In particular, that means 60% less energy consumption thanks to efficient power supply units and a reduction in transmitting power of up to 100% in standby mode. The phones are radiation-free in standby mode. More information on ECO DECT technology can be found here.

The Gigaset SL450HX Black Edition is available now from retailers and in the Gigaset online shop at the recommended retail price of € 139.99.
