From Single Cell to Multi-Cell: which System fits your cordless Office best?

Take for example the required flexibility of employees working in a warehouse, retail environment or large office. With cordless telephony, they’re able to work at multiple locations within the building and are still optimally available. Mobile or DECT?
More and more businesses around the world rely on smartphones and mobile phone networks as their main business communications solution. A great solution to enhance mobility, but mobile phone communication still faces some issues, including coverage and voice quality. That’s why it’s worth considering a Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications solution (DECT) instead. It offers coverage across your entire building or site, even in factories or warehouses with thick walls or steel constructions. Additionally, you’re not depending on your service provider for good voice quality, since this is fixed by your DECT base station, offering the best signal coverage. DECT also enables you to connect handsets to both local telephony and internet based services – to access all the features you need. Take for example centralized telephone books, which are connected to your own business. Finally, DECT handsets are more durable than mobile (smart)phones. The battery lasts longer, and if employees drop their ruggedized DECT handset, there is hardly any damage.
Single cell for your SME
When using DECT, there are two main options: single cell and multicell DECT solutions. A single cell solution is a local radio network for your cordless DECT handsets. It’s often used for a home or a small office, with no more than 4 to 6 handsets. The solution consists of one base station and a couple of handsets; its reach can be expanded with repeaters. Since there’s no difference in functionality between a single cell or multicell solution, the biggest advantage of a single cell solution is its price: a single cell base station starts around hundred euros.
Multicell for growing businesses
Does your business use its communications solution intensively? Do you work in a building where the range of a single cell system is not possible, due to size or construction? Or do you require a lot of handsets or simultaneous calls? Then you’ll be better off with a multicell DECT solution. With a multicell solution, you’ll be able to create a local DECT cordless telephone network to make and receive calls, with up to 100 handsets and 30 base stations. When employees move through the office, their DECT handset automatically connects to the base station with the best signal strength, to make sure they’re always available. Multicell solution prices start around five hundred euros, and it’s easy to upscale of downscale with base stations and handsets.
