Gigaset nominated as Innovator of the Year 2021
8. November 2021 Published by Raphael DoerrInnovator of the Year is the biggest audience award of Die Deutsche Wirtschaft and is bestowed on companies that stand for innovativeness and fresh ideas. This year is the fifth time that the Innovator of the Year will be chosen by hundreds of thousands of members of the public. They assess the nominees’ innovative products, processes and concepts. Gigaset is also one of the nominees for the first time this year – for its Gigaset ION, the HD voice alternative for small telephone conferences.
Digital communication solutions “Made in Germany”: The invention of DECT technology made Gigaset Europe’s market leader in cordless fixed-line phones – a transmission technology that ensures perfect voice quality and smooth connections to this day. This year Gigaset presented the first DECT handset for unified communications solutions such as SwyxIt!, Circuit, Teams, Zoom or WebEx.
The new Gigaset ION unites the convenience of a DECT handset with broad connectivity to existing unified communications solutions – from SwyxIt! to Circuit, from Teams to Zoom. The lean portable device works with any PC/UC client via USB and can be used flexibly thanks to the DECT dongle – apart from excellent voice quality, DECT offers a range up to 300 meters and so expands users’ radius of movement significantly compared to normal headsets.
ION can be used on the desktop as a conference phone, or as a high-quality hands-free solution when it is placed next to the PC or in its charging cradle. When held to the ear, it automatically switches to handset mode thanks to its integrated proximity sensor – without the need to touch a button, it then acts like a normal cordless phone.
If they were not already clear before, the coronavirus pandemic has highlighted the advantages of professional VoIP communications solutions. Millions of people are working from home and can be reached under their usual office numbers thanks to call forwarding or keep in touch using the many unified conferencing and communication applications available on the market.
“We have been developing mobile DECT devices for the high demands of the professional segment for many years,” says Joerg Kruse, Product Manager Professional at Gigaset. “The bar is high – which is why we are always guided by the needs of companies. Their employees have faced completely new challenges over the past year. To make sure that productivity at home does not suffer, communication must not only work smoothly, but also be as convenient as in the office. With the Gigaset ION, we are focusing on the requirements in the modern UC application arena in a working world marked by disruptive change.”
“After 70 years of delivering innovations, Gigaset isn’t finished. We keep on striving to create new and innovative products, to develop ourselves further, yet to always remain true to our roots. Our nomination for Innovator of the Year 2021 is magnificent testimony to our successes to date,” emphasizes Joerg Kruse.
