Powerful smartphone in a glass design and grass packaging

Gigaset is continuing its success story and presenting what is now its third smartphone Made in Germany: Completely in glass and with a 6.18-inch full-HD+ display, the new device makes a visual statement. Its inner values include the powerful octa-core processor with 4G LTE and a fast-charging 4,000-mAh battery that delivers the long service life customers have come to expect from Gigaset. And its price proves that quality “Made in Germany” need not be expensive: The GS195 goes on sale at the RRP of €199 from mid-August.

“We are the only European company to produce smartphones,” says Gigaset’s CEO Klaus Weßing. “And that too is a statement. And it’s a logical step when you consider that we’ve been making telecommunications solutions for seven decades now. Digitalization has made people more mobile – and we at Gigaset will always offer the right terminal devices for communication of the future, too.” The communications technology experts from Bocholt in North Rhine-Westphalia are setting store by their core competence when it comes to smartphones: telephony in HD voice, high standards of quality, and top design. The most recent proof of that is the new GS195.

Mobile companion with the qualities of a model

The GS195 is currently the only Gigaset smartphone with a glass rear. The smooth, elegant surface houses the fingerprint sensor to enable easy unlocking and the dual camera with an LED flash. The software combines the pictures from a 13-MP and a 5-MP chip to create an impressive result that is marvelous to behold. Multi-effect mode with its various color effects gives discriminating hobby photographers their money’s worth, while the bokeh setting adds a classy fuzziness to a picture’s background. The silver Gigaset logo has been laser etched in the glass. The GS195 can also be personalized with an individual engraving if desired. Whether a dedication, the name of a partner or a favorite quote: At its state-of-the-art factory in Bocholt, Gigaset is able to give every single smartphone its very own engraving – even in different colors.

The front is also a delight

More than twice as long as it is wide, crisp and sharp, resplendently bright – almost right up to the edge: The 6.18-inch full-HD+ display of the GS195 has a 19:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2,246 x 1,080 pixels. When held horizontally, that makes it feel as if you are watching a compact movie screen, for example, when streaming videos. Yet Gigaset has also integrated a notch to make sure the housing remains easy to handle. It is located at the upper margin of the display and accommodates the proximity and brightness sensor and the selfie camera. The space to the left and right of the notch is used to permanently display information such as the time, the battery charge level or the signal strength. That still leaves enough space on the display for all the things that matter: messages, photos or videos. The 8-MP front camera has its own LED flash and so allows selfies to be taken even when the light is poor. The camera also supplies information for the face recognition feature. Users can therefore choose to unlock their device by PIN, their own fingerprint or facial recognition.

Inner values without compromises

The GS195 comes with the Pure Android 9.0 Pie operating system, which further enhances its performance, stability, energy efficiency and even its service life thanks to artificial intelligence. The octa-core processor supplies enough computing power for all common applications. And the fixed-line network pioneer Gigaset sets the bar especially high in terms of telephony features: The GS195 also offers HD voice on the road for far higher voice quality and suppression of background noise and interference. The smartphone supports Voice over LTE and Voice over WiFi and so uses broadband data connections to transmit calls in top quality and boost the speed at which connections are established. The triple card slot holds not only two SIM cards but also a microSD card to enable the internal memory to be expanded by up to 256 GB. USB On-The-Go technology transforms the GS195 into a power bank that also enables other devices, such as a partner’s mobile phone or smart watch, to be recharged.

Green packaging made of grass

Gigaset has always attached great importance to expedient packaging that gets the product safely to the customer, yet is pared down to what is absolutely necessary. Regional suppliers guarantee short distances, while the boxes are printed, but do not have a film wrapping. The GS195 even goes a step further: Cellulose-based packaging made of grass paper is used for it for the first time and comprises not only recycled paper, but – to a proportion of 30 percent – rapidly renewable grass fibers, the hay for which comes from domestic German meadows. Grass paper production has a positive ecological footprint in terms of water and energy consumption. CO2 emissions can also be reduced drastically and the use of chemicals in the manufacturing process completely eliminated. As a result, Gigaset not only delights eco-conscious fans of the brand, but also very consciously does its bit for our planet.

The new Gigaset GS195 in the colors titanium gray and dark purple goes on sale at stores and online retailers and in the Gigaset online shop at the RRP of €199.00 from mid-August 2019.
