Touchscreen meets buttons: the new Maxwell 4

11. June 2019 Published by Raphael Doerr

Gigaset is expanding its successful desktop phone series to include the new Maxwell 4, a high-end device that meets the requirements of companies that need to phone a lot. The high-quality desktop phone not only has a conventional keypad, but also an intuitive touchscreen with freely programmable display buttons and offers perfect HD voice quality. The use of SIP protocols means the Maxwell 4 is compatible with leading IP and cloud telephony providers – which makes integrating it in a company’s existing telecommunications infrastructure easy.

Since its launch the Maxwell series has become a firm component in telecommunications at enterprises in Europe. With its ergonomic design, maximum compatibility with local and cloud telephone systems, and top-class connectivity, the new Maxwell 4 has been developed to make communication as flexible as possible. Made in Germany at Bocholt in North Rhine-Westphalia and equipped with a high-speed processor and a user interface designed by the company’s own software department, the Maxwell 4 is the ideal solution for companies and a logical extension to the existing Maxwell portfolio.

“We want to provide customers looking for devices for the professional arena with a broad portfolio of versatile products that are suitable for everyday use,” says Norbert Cremer, Head of Product Management Professional. “Our Maxwell series complements our handsets perfectly, and the Maxwell 4 will take over as the new flagship alongside the 3, 2, C and basic models.”

Ready to talk

The 4.3” high-contrast, capacitive color touchscreen enables pinpointed access to all the phone’s features. The up to 38 freely programmable display buttons can be assigned any functions from the extensive menu structure. It goes without saying that the Maxwell 4 can also be operated entirely using softkeys – but the touch-and-swipe interface offers users far greater speed, flexibility and convenience.

The device can manage up to six SIP accounts and four parallel lines, permits telephone conferences with up to five participants (locally), and has a busy lamp field (BLF) as well as all common convenience features vital in everyday office work, such as call waiting, holding, rejection, swapping, resumption of calls, recall, number suppression (CLIR), call forwarding (blind transfer, without/with query, CFU, CFNR, CFB) and anonymous call rejection.

Easy to configure

The new Gigaset Maxwell 4 makes administrators’ work simple. It can be configured and updated with zero-touch automatic provisioning. The device also comes with advanced security features: Every business call is kept truly confidential thanks to the customary feature of end-to-end encryption using the Secure Real-time Transport Protocol (SRTP) and Transport Layer Security (TLS). In addition, the phone can be secured by the pattern unlock feature so as to prevent it being used by unauthorized persons.

Great for nurturing contacts

With its USB port for headsets or storage media, RJ9 and RJ45 jack for handsets and headsets and LAN connection for communication with the network, computer and PBX, the Maxwell 4 integrates perfectly in any communications infrastructure. The integrated address book holds 1,000 entries – however, the device can also read the company directory in the network via LDAP and permits access to online address books. The quick search using symbols or full text makes it easy to find entries and, when calls are received, the phone automatically searches for an entry in the online directory.

Lush sound

Thanks to the codecs G.711 u/a, G.722 (HD), G.726-32, iLbc and G.729, the Maxwell 4 offers excellent sound quality – whether with a corded handset, a headset (via EHS/DHSG, RJ-9 or USB) or the full-duplex handsfree function with brilliant sound quality for telephone conferences. The volume of all output channels is freely adjustable.

The flexible stand of the Maxwell 4 allows it to be set up in three positions on the desk, guaranteeing good visibility of the display from any angle. Alternatively, the device can be wall-mounted using an optional bracket.
