The GX290 was one of the highlights of the year – not just for Gigaset because it was the company’s first so-called “ruggedized” smartphone, made especially robust for use in challenging environments. But also for the press, who were able to convince the recipient qualities of the new smartphone. The Gigaset GX290 is the reliable companion in extreme situations – be it in the job, for example, on the construction site or in leisure time for outdoor sports such as mountain biking, stand-up paddling (SUP) or rafting. Thanks to its extremely long battery life, it is a loyal companion even on long tours. Various media were able to put the smartphone through its paces and were impressed by the Gigaset smartphone “for the really tough”.
“Robust exterior and an extremely long-lasting battery”
CHIP magazine tested the Gigaset GX290 in five categories (battery, camera, display, performance and features). Above all, the battery performance was convincing, but there was even a “very good” test result. “With a robust exterior and an extremely long-lasting battery, the Gigaset GX290 is a good choice, especially for outdoor tours.” The Gigaset smartphone was also convincing in the other categories. The equipment and the display were rated “good”.
“Attractive overall package for everyone who is looking for a robust everyday companion”
Notebookcheck.com praises the good features of the GX290: “The Gigaset GX290 convinced in the test with its hard shell, long battery life and extensive features.” The long battery life also impressed Notebookcheck.com. The smartphone also scores with other features: If the battery stumbles, the Gigaset can be charged easily – with the help of a quick charge function and wireless charging. The display does not have to hide either: Notebookcheck praises the high resolution and in particular the high luminosity reserves.
“A pretty big chunk! – But robust and absolutely up to date ”
The outdoor magazine tested the Gigaset GX290 for its outdoor qualities. A fall into the water is no problem for the GX290, as the video of the magazine shows. Even with gloves, the wet smartphone can be operated without any problems. The conclusion of the outdoor magazine: “With its robust housing, the 6.1-inch HD + display with gorilla glass and an exceptionally powerful 6,200 mAh battery with fast wireless charging, the device is a good outdoor smartphone growth this year. ”
“Comparatively low price for a well-protected smartphone”
With the new GX290, Gigaset has added a further division to the product portfolio in addition to entry-level and design smartphones. Although there are already competitors with a lot of experience in this segment, Gigaset’s GX290 is a smartphone that offers good performance at a fair price. In a direct comparison with the CAT S52, the GX290 does not have to hide in a test by Computerbase.de. Although the competitor Caterpillar has been building outdoor smartphones for years, the Gigaset smartphone can keep up well: “Comparatively low price for a well-protected smartphone” is the summary of Computerbase.de and further: “Who […] is looking for the best-protected smartphone possible, which is particularly convincing with its first-class battery life on GPS tours, for example, it uses the GX290. ”
